How we work remotely at 3Qcode

How do our people work?

Ever wondered how we stay super productive while working remotely? Spoiler: it’s not just about good Wi-Fi

From morning coffee to meeting tight deadlines, we’re proof that remote work can be 100% on point.

Remote-first philosophy: skills over location

At 3Qcode, part of a larger capital group, we’ve been redefining IT work for over three years. From day one, our core philosophy has been about creating a dynamic structure that supports 100% remote work. For us, it’s not about where you are but about your skills and commitment. With modern AI tools and online communication platforms, we achieve efficient workflows and seamless collaboration. Annual team retreats—where everyone leaves with a smile—and industry meetups keep our crew fully aligned and inspired. This approach lets us focus on what truly matters: delivering top-quality solutions while enjoying the flexibility of working from anywhere. At 3Qcode, remote doesn’t mean distant; it means connected and thriving.

It’s all about DBeaver and Mongo Atlas

My workspace setup is my productivity booster! I’ve got a neat little Google Hub screen that keeps me on track with my daily tasks. It also lets me control the lighting and runs routines to remind me to stretch, take breaks, or even clock in and out at the right time. Add three screens and a standing desk to the mix, and I’m good to go!

When it comes to software, I stick to a few favorites. My main go-to is VS Code Insiders (a bit unusual since most use the standard version, but I love getting early updates—it’s never let me down). For heavier lifting, there’s Visual Studio 2022 (way better than 2019, which had that annoying test navigation issue). For databases, it’s all about DBeaver and Mongo Atlas for managing my MongoDB.

As for my fuel? Tortillas and sandwiches from a nearby bakery, in all kinds of combos, plus at least one cup of black coffee with a teaspoon of sugar—it’s the secret sauce. When I need a quick reset, I’ll watch an episode of Rick & Morty or Bojack Horseman, or jump into a round of CS:GO or Lonely Mountains: Downhill. Works every time! 😄

Life as a night owl engineer

Starting my day without coffee? Not an option. The bigger the mug, the better—honestly, if it weren’t unhealthy, I’d probably drink it straight from a bucket because I love it that much.

When it comes to tools, Docker is my MVP. It makes spinning up services a breeze without cluttering my machine with permanent installs. My workflow wouldn’t be the same without it.

Nighttime is my prime time. The world is quiet, everyone’s asleep, and that’s when the beast in me wakes up to code like crazy. Music sets the pace—old-school Polish rap for slower, focused sessions (bonus: I rap along as a side quest) and electronic or rock/metal when I need to power through.

To stay sharp, I take regular breaks to stretch and breathe deeply, preferably by an open window—even if it’s freezing outside. Movement helps, too—when I’m deep in thought, I’ll pace around my apartment. It’s like walking unlocks my brain’s problem-solving mode.

Early riser with a tech twist

My day starts at 5 AM with a half-hour walk in the woods with my dog—it’s the perfect way to wake up. For automation, I rely on Notepad++, where I write macros for modifying regular expressions. My tea? Always in a custom-made ceramic mug by a talented artist, holding a full liter of goodness.

When coding, it’s all about synthwave and new retro wave. I’m a huge fan of Perturbator and Carpenter Brut—they keep me in the zone. To destress, I switch gears and mow the lawn or cut down shrubs. Living on the edge of the forest and meadows means there’s never a shortage of work to do, and I love it!

Focused flex: my work style

While I usually work from home in total silence, the toughest tasks—ones that need razor-sharp focus—are best tackled outside, like in a cozy café with a good cup of tea and white noise in my headphones. Late evenings are also a great time for me to zone in; it’s easier to concentrate when the world slows down.

Tea is my fuel, and I always brew two mugs at once—favorites include mint, lemon balm, and herbal blends. For tools, Agile Test and Sentry are my go-to, and Slack is my preferred way to communicate. I’m a stickler for clean documentation, so typos and double spaces in test reports are my pet peeves. On the flip side, I adore well-written and easy-to-follow tickets in Jira—pure bliss! 😄

Code, chill, repeat: my daily dev flow

Programming is my daily grind—focused, independent, and built on a minimalist approach that keeps distractions out. My essentials? A steady supply of water, noise-canceling headphones, and an ergonomic workspace that’s all about comfort and efficiency.

I rely on Jira and Apple Calendar to stay organized, while Teams keeps collaboration on point. Lofi beats play softly in the background, creating the perfect balance of calm and focus to keep the ideas flowing and the code clean.

Evening coder’s sanctuary: my perfect work setup

I’m not a morning person—my workday usually kicks off later and stretches into the evening. My workspace? A rented two-person office that’s my personal sanctuary. The minimalist interior, adjustable desk, and absolute silence make it the perfect place to focus.

Music fuels my flow, and space ambient is my go-to soundtrack for deep work sessions. For breaks, I step out to a café for a matcha latte—it’s my little ritual to recharge.

As for tools, it’s all about efficiency: a trusty trackball, Visual Studio for coding, and MS Teams for collaboration. This setup, paired with the peace of my office, keeps me in the zone until I’m ready to call it a day.

Dawid - Software Engineer

Communication is key: the life of a PO

As a Product Owner, communication is everything. Remote work adds challenges, especially when coordinating between business, internal IT, and vendors across time zones with just Teams or phone calls. There’s no automation for this—it’s all about clarifying requirements, aligning expectations, and ensuring everyone stays informed.

My rituals? A tidy workspace for a clear mind and detailed task lists after meetings to stay organized. My Maltese dog is my perfect break reminder, dragging me outside for fresh air when I forget to pause.

I love my job—it’s my passion. Dynamic environments fuel me, but it’s the support of my team, especially Maksym, Jacek, and Kuba, that makes all the difference. Their encouragement keeps me going, even on the toughest days.
